Economists are predicting a 7% increase in food prices at the beginning of the New Year.
Economists say the increased cost of feed for chickens, hogs and cattle is to blame.
Aside from costs, there’s also less meat on the retail market and less animal products like eggs and milk.
The 7% increase would spike up prices by quite a bit. For instance, milk that costs $1.86 would likely cost $1.98. Eggs would be $1.91 instead of $1.79 and bread would jump up by 21 cents.
